Automations: Overview

Contents

To understand Automations in Dado, think like this:  "Tasks for people, Automations are for computers". If you as an admin have a repetitive Task that you are doing many times over and over, it can likely be replaced by an Automation.

Adding an automation to the Timeline

To create a new Automation, click or drag anywhere on the Timeline and select "Automation" from the options. The Automation Editor will appear.

The Automation Editor has 3 sections:

  • Left side: in this section, define Trigger and Participant settings which relate to the Automation as a whole:
    • Trigger and Time allows you to choose when task starts, is completed or late, or at a specified date and time.
    • Participants - for more on this, see the article Target Audiences
  • Middle: a preview of the different Actions set up for this Automation
  • Right side: this section shows you the different kinds of Actions you can use to customise your Automation. To add these, simply drag and drop them into the middle section. See below for a list of the available actions.
    • Once you've dropped the Action in the main area, the settings for it will be shown. Note that it's possible to combine multiple Actions of different types in a single Automation – click each Action to view its Settings.
    • Note: To use actions, you'll need to activate the corresponding integrations under Organization -> Integrations.
