Messages, Tasks and Automations

The main three elements you'll use to build experiences with Dado are Messages, Tasks and Automations. Below we will clarify the basic concepts and differences between each of these. To learn more about which, visit the related articles at the end of this article.

- Messages are communication and require no action from the recipient. Use them when sending "simple" comms. They can include content blocks such as Text, Heading, Image. Messages can also include a "Task List" that lists the Tasks starting in the next day, week, or month. They can be sent via email or messenger platforms (Slack, Teams, etc).

- Tasks require an action from the recipient. A Task can include multiple Sub-tasks which are the individual actions the person will perform. Tasks include completion tracking for each Sub-task and for the Task as a whole. Tasks can also include content blocks. They can be sent via email or messenger platforms (Slack, Teams, etc).

- Automations are Tasks for systems and integrations. They happen automatically without input from the participant or anyone else. Automations are made up of "Actions" which are what the system should execute. A single Automation can include multiple actions connected to many different systems.
