Move, resend or skip items in one Participant's Experience

Dado gives you a range of ways to control what happens in one Participant's Experience, without making changes that affect all Participants. This functionality enables you to adjust an Experience to reflect the individual circumstances of a Participant.

How to change the timing of one Task, Message or Automation

  1. Go to the Experience you wish to change, and Scroll down to the “Participants” list.
  2. Click the Participant whose Experience you want to change.
  3. This opens a window showing this Participant's individual Experience. Any changes you make here will only affect this Experience, for this Participant. It won't change anything in the permanent data Dado holds on this Participant.
  4. To move the item to start/send/run today:
    1. Click the "Send today", "Run today" or "Start today" button on the right hand side
    2. Click "Save changes" on the bottom right.
  5. To move an item to any other day apart from today:
    1. Hovering over any Task, Message or Automation will make a checkbox appear. Select one or more items you want to move.
    2. At the bottom right, select the number of days or weeks you wish to move these items, and then click "Move Items". You'll see your selected elements have been moved.
    3. The window will update to show you the new dates of the items you moved. Next to each item you will see a yellow 'Modified' tag.
    4. When you've finished moving things, click "Save changes" on the bottom right.

Please note: if you move any Tasks, Messages or Automations from the past to the future, this will effectively "reset" them. See the section below titles "How to make a Task, Message or Automation re-run in the future" for more details about this.

How to make a Task, Message or Automation re-run in the future

This feature can be useful when changing a Participant's start-date. If important Tasks/Messages/Automations have already triggered before a start-date change, you can move them to a future date so they will trigger again at the appropriate time in relation to the Participant's new start-date.

When you move items from the past to the future (see instructions above), the items will automatically reset. In practice this means:

  • Messages will send again on the new date you've set
  • Automations will run again on the new date you've set
    • Any 'skipped' actions will not re-run, unless you unskip them
    • The effects of the previous run will not be undone – for instance, if someone has already been added to a calendar event, they will not be removed
  • Tasks will start again on the new date you've set, and a new notification will be sent on that date
    • Any 'Completed' Sub-tasks will stay completed
    • Any 'Skipped' Sub-tasks will stay 'Skipped', unless you unskip them
    • Pre-deadline and overdue reminders will send in relation to this new start-date

How to start/send a future Task, Message or Automation right now

Sometimes you wish to depart from the scheduled timing for a Task, Message or Automation, and have it start right away. This can be helpful if a Participant or Supporting Actor asks you about what's coming next in their Experience, or enquires about information that's included in an upcoming Message.

  4. Find the Task/Message/Automation you'd like to start right away. On the right-hand side of the window you'll see a button labelled 'Start now' (for Tasks), 'Send now' (for Messages) or 'Run now' (for Automations).
  5. Click this button. Doing so will cause the Task/Message/Automation to move to today.
    • If the scheduled start-time for this item was earlier today, it will start/send/run within the next 10 minutes.
    • If the scheduled start-time for this item is later today, it will start/send/run at that time.
  6. The window will update to show you the new dates of the item you moved. Next to the item you will see a yellow 'Modified' tag.
  7. When you've finished making changes, click "Save changes" on the bottom right.

How to resend a Task or Message

It can sometimes be helpful to be able to resend a Message or initial notification for a Task that has already started. For instance, if you have changed a Supporting Actor for a particular Participant, you might want to resend any previous Messages so they have the full context of the Experience.

  4. Find the Task/Message you'd like to resend. On the right-hand side of the of the window you'll see a button labelled 'Resend'.

This button will only appear for Tasks/Messages that have already sent/started. If you'd like to make a future Task or Message send/start right away, follow the instructions above.

  5. Click this button. When the message has successfully resent, you will see a green notification on screen.

How to re-run an Automation

Automations can add employees to calendar events, create service desk tickets, enroll employees in learning paths, add them to channels and groups, and more.

If something went wrong with the first run of an Automation, it's easy to trigger the Automation to run again.

  4. Move the Automation to tomorrow, (see instructions above), which will automatically reset it.
  5. Save your changes by clicking the Save changes button in the bottom right
  6. If tomorrow is too late, you can click the "Run today" button next to the automation.
  7. Save your changes by clicking the Save changes button in the bottom right

How to skip or unskip a Task, Message or Automation

Sometimes, a Task, Message or Automation will not be relevant for a particular Participant. It's easy to remove that item from just that Participant's Experience by 'skipping' it. A 'skipped' Task or Message will not be sent out, and will not appear in the Participant or Supporting Actor's personal view webpage. A 'skipped' Automation will not run for that Participant's Experience.

If you later decide that this Task, Message or Automation should be included in the Participant's Experience it's just as easy to add it back in, by 'unskipping' it.

Only items scheduled to occur in the future can be unskipped. If the item you wish to unskip is already in the past, you must first move it to the future, then unskip.

  4. Find the Task/Message/Automation you'd like to start right away. On the right-hand side of the window you'll see a button labelled 'Skip'.
  5. Click this button. The window will update to show a 'Skipped' status for this item. Next to the item you will see a yellow 'Modified' tag.
  6. When you've finished making changes, click "Save changes" on the bottom right.

Other changes to a Participant's Experience

It's also possible to make other changes that affect just one Participant:
