Key differences between Moments and Experiences

Contents

Moments and Experiences serve fundamentally different purposes

A Dado Experience enables you to automate complex multi-part processes involving many different people, and many different tasks and messages. A Moment, on the other hand, is a single message sent out at a particular time.

Experiences can be used for onboardings, offboardings, training, mentorship programs, and trainings – among other processes.

Moments can be used to send internal newsletters, company announcements, to announce upcoming events and policy changes, or commemorate national holidays.

Moments sub-tasks don't have deadlines or reminders

When you set up a task in an Experience, you can set a deadline and specify when and how many reminders should be sent.

While you can include sub-tasks in Moments, you can't set a deadline or schedule any reminders.

There are fewer Data Destination options for Moments

When you set up an Answer Question, Select Option or Provide Address sub-task in an Experience, you have the option to specify where the answers to those tasks should be sent. For instance, you can sync this data back to your HRIS, or to an Excel Online spreadsheet or Google Sheet. Similarly, for the Upload File sub-task, you can decide whether the files submitted should be sent to an email address, added to Google Drive or Microsoft Sharepoint.

For Moments, these options are not available. Any data collected via Moments sub-tasks is available in the downloadable csv report, which you can see for every sent Moment on the Moments List page.

Moments don't have any automations

Dado Experiences offer a range of automations, which enable actions to be automatically triggered in other systems, such as:

  • creating calendar events
  • inviting people to calendar events
  • adding people to Slack channels or Teams
  • adding people to Google Groups or Microsoft 365 Groups
  • creating tickets in service desks like Jira and Asana
  • adding people to trainings in various Learning Management Systems

Moments don't offer this kind of automation functionality.

Experiences can enroll people automatically, on an ongoing basis

A Moment is a 'one-off': you create the message and then it's sent just once, at the time and date you specify.

An Experience can be ongoing: you set up the timeline, and then can enroll new participants over weeks, months or years. Each participant will get a custom schedule for the Experience content, best suited to when they start the Experience. Participants can even go through the same Experience multiple times.

It's possible to set up your Experience to automatically enroll people based on certain criteria: for instance, enrolling new hires when their start-date is set; or enrolling existing employees when they have an upcoming birthday or work anniversary.

Moments don't offer this kind of automatic enrollment. Instead, you specify the criteria for recipients of a Moment using Target Audiences.
