What can you do with a Dado <> Jira integration?

The Dado <> Jira integration allows you to automatically create tickets in Jira projects and service desks.

How to set up the Jira Integration

1. Create a dedicated Jira user account for Dado

We recommend you authenticate with a dedicated Jira user account, which is only used for the purpose of Dado. This way you can grant permissions on a granular level to this one account, so that Dado can only see what it needs to see.

Request your IT Team sets up a new Jira user account, with access to the projects/service desks where you'll want to create tickets.

  • This Jira user will only need permissions to create tickets (not update or monitor tickets), and only in the projects/service desks where you want Dado to create tickets.
  • If you already have a dedicated Google Workspace/Microsoft account, it's best to set up the Jira user with that account's email address.

2. Give the Jira Integration User access to the relevant projects/service desks

  1. Now go to Jira, and add the Jira Integration User to the relevant projects and service desks
    • This user needs permissions to create tickets in each project and service desk, where you want Dado to automatically create tickets.

If you can't remember the email address of your Jira Integration user, context help@dadohr.com and we'll look it up for you.

3. Set up the integration in Dado

  1. Log in to Jira as your Jira Integration User
  2. Log into Dado as an Admin user, and navigate to Settings > Integrations
  3. Select Jira and click "Setup Integration".
  4. You’ll be taken to Jira. If you're logged in to multiple workspaces, choose the correct one before proceeding.
  5. You will be asked to allow Dado to connect to your Jira workspace, as in the screenshot below. Dado needs these permission rights to send messages and tasks to your company's employees. Press Accept to proceed.
  6. You will then be sent back to Dado and see a message confirming you've successfully set up the integration. You can now log out of this Dado account, and log back in as yourself.
  7. You can now set up Jira Automations, to automatically create tickets in projects and service desks – see instructions here

Permissions and Scopes requested by Dado

We request the OAuth Scopes listed below. Please allow the app all of these Permissions and Scopes, otherwise, the functionality of the integration will be compromised.

  • View: jira-work
    • This enables Dado to find the projects/service desks, issue types and required fields for the tickets you want it to create.
  • Update: jira-work
    • This enables Dado to create tickets in the projects/service desks, based on what you set up in your Automations
