Google Sheets/Excel: missing Dado ID column

To be able to sync data about your experience Participants to a Google or Excel sheet, Dado needs there to be a column called Dado ID (with this exact capitalization). Please ensure this column is always present in your sheet, and the header hasn't been accidentally overwritten.

The Dado ID column does not need to be the first column in the sheet. If it's distracting or confusing, feel free to move it to the right-hand end of the columns that are filled out.

Google Sheets/Excel: empty cells in the Dado ID column, or duplicate values in the Dado ID column

Empty cells in the Dado ID column

Dado decides which row to add a new employee's data to, by finding the first row with a blank cell in the Dado ID column.

That means that every existing row needs to have something in this column, otherwise it's at risk of being overwritten. This is usually only an issue if it's not just Dado, but members of your team who are updating this sheet; or if Dado is adding extra data to a pre-existing sheet that was previously filled out by members of your team.

If you do have rows in the sheet that weren't added by Dado, go through and put a different unique value in each cell. This can, for instance, be 101, 102, 103 and so on.

Duplicate values in the Dado ID column

This often occurs when Dado is syncing data to a sheet that either a) was previously filled out by members of your team or b) is still having data added by members of your team.

Dado requires that each value in the Dado ID column is unique; otherwise it can't tell which row to update. Review the values in this column and replace any duplicates with unique values.

Google Sheets/Excel: multiple columns with the same header

Dado requires each column in the sheet to have a different header (i.e. a different value in row 1 of that column). If there are multiple columns with the same header, Dado will not know which one to fill out.

Please review your sheet and ensure that all the values in row 1 are unique.

Google Sheets/Excel: more than 1 header row

Dado expects there to be just one row of headers, and then all the rest of the rows to be data. If you add any extra header rows, this will prevent Dado from writing to this sheet.

Please remove any additional header rows, and ensure that there is only 1 header row.

Google Sheets: hidden or filtered columns or rows

When you filter or hide columns or rows in your Google Sheet, this impedes Dado's ability to detect where it should add new data to the sheet.

Please do not hide any columns or rows. If you need to use filters in the sheet, please apply them for a short period and remove them as soon as you can.

Sorting the sheet has no effect; it's only filters that interfere with Dado's ability to sync data.

If it's more convenient, you can also delete rows from the sheet when they're no longer needed, or copy-paste them to another tab in the sheet.
