How to deactivate/hide a task, message or automation in your experience

Sometimes you want to temporarily hide/remove/deactivate a particular task/message/automation in an experience. For instance, this could be because:

  • you're adding something new but it's not finished yet
  • you're finished but you need to check or confirm with a colleague before it's ready to send to employees
  • you need to temporarily remove something, for instance because it's not relevant to an upcoming cohort


How to hide/deactivate a task/message/automation

  1. Go into the editable view of the task/message/automation
  2. Click on Edit in the Target Audiences section in the left hand column
  3. For each audience in the list, hide every block:
    1. Click Edit for the audience


    2. Hover over every block in the central section and click Hide block


    3. Once you've hidden all blocks, you should see something like this in the central section


    4. Click Save changes in the left hand column
  4. If you have more than one target audience in this task/message/automation, repeat these steps for the other audiences
  5. Now save the task/message/automation by clicking the blue Save button in the top right
  6. Don't forget to save your overall experience when you're ready, by clicking Save changes in the bottom right of the screen.

How to unhide/reactivate a task/message/automation

When you want to unhide or reactivate a task/message or automation, just reverse those steps:

  1. Go into the editable view of the task/message/automation
  2. Click on 'edit' in the Target Audiences section in the left hand column
  3. For each audience in the list, hide every block:
    1. Click "Edit" for the audience


    2. In the left hand column, switch on the toggle labelled Show blocks hidden for this audience

    3. Hover over each block in the central section that you wish to send to this audience, and click Show block


    4. Click Save changes in the left hand column
    5. You'll now be shown a preview of what this audience would receive. Double-check everything looks correct, and repeat a) to d) if not.
  4. If you have more than one target audience in this task/message/automation, repeat these steps for the other audiences
  5. Now save the task/message/automation by clicking the blue Save button in the top right
  6. Don't forget to save your overall experience when you're ready, by clicking Save changes in the bottom right of the screen.
